30 Day Song Challenge: Day 20

Day 20 – A Favorite Song With A Person’s Name in the Title

Samson by Regina Spektor

Year Released: 2002

To be completely honest, I could not figure out why I love this song. πŸ™‚ Can one love a song for no reason at all? The best reason I could come up with is that… I have a thing for sad songs and sad stories. 😦

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth
I have to go, I have to go
Your hair was long when we first met

Samson went back to bed
Not much hair left on his head
He ate a slice of wonder bread and went right back to bed
And history books forgot about us and the bible didn’t mention us
And the bible didn’t mention us, not even once

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 19

Day 19 – A Song That Makes You Think About Life

If I Die Young by The Band Perry

Year Released: 2010

I guess it’s pretty obvious why this song makes me think about life. Because it’s about the one thing that make you realize that life is a temporary little thing: death. It’s a little morbid when you think about it but I listened to this A LOT (waaay more than necessary) during one of the lowest points in my life. But that’s a tale for another day. Perhaps when I’m ready to share my story. 😦 Anyway… steering back to happy thoughts!!

Lord make me a rainbow, I’ll shine down on my mother
She’ll know I’m safe with you when
She stands under my colours, oh and
Life ain’t always what you think it oughta be, no
Ain’t even grey, but she buries her baby
The sharp knife of a short life,
Well, I’ve had just enough time
If I die young bury me in satin.
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 18

Day 18 – A Song From The Year That You Were Born

Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson

Year Released: 1988

This has to be my favorite Michael Jackson song (above Gone Too Soon) simply because I really love its message. I can’t resist a good meaningful song. Honestly though, I didn’t know this was released on my birth year until now ’cause I had to search which songs were released the year I was born. Haha! πŸ™‚

I’m starting with the man in
the mirror
I’m asking him to change
his ways
And no message could have
been any clearer
If you wanna make the world
a better place
Take a look at yourself, and
then make a change

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 17

Day 17 – A Song That You Would Sing A Duet With On Karaoke

A Whole New World by Lea Salonga and Brad Kane

Year Released: 1992

Okay. This is the little girl who secretly wanted to become a Disney princess in me talking. Let me rephrase today’s prompt A Song I Would Sing (If I Could) A Duet With On Karaoke. πŸ˜€ So up until now, I’ve sang this alone in my room and in the shower. But one day, with the right amount of alcohol and spirit, I would sing this on a karaoke session. Friends, watch out. Haha! πŸ˜€

A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But now from way up here
It’s crystal clear
that now I’m in a whole new world with you

Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 16

Day 16 – One of Your Favorite Classical Songs

FΓΌr Elise by Ludwig van Beethoven

Year Released: 1867 (?)

So my knowledge on classical music is severely limited, which is a shame. Something I sincerely hope to rectify soon enough. πŸ™‚ This is perhaps one of Beethoven’s most iconic compositions. This is my go-to relaxing music as I just find it so soothing.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 15

Day 15 – A Song That is a Cover by Another Artist

Two Less Lonely People in the World by KZ Tandingan

Original Artist: Air Supply

Year Released: 1982

So I’m choosing this song mainly because this has been stuck in my head for days now ever since I watched the movie Kita Kita. I grew up listening to Air Supply because they’re one of my mom’s favorite artists so I didn’t bother to listen to KZ Tandingan’s version until I watched the movie. πŸ™‚ I must say though that I love her version of this song, too, that I’ve been playing it a lot these days. Haha! Movie hangover.

Two less lonely people in the world
And it’s gonna be fine
Out of all the people in the world
I just can’t believe you’re mine
In my life where everything was wrong
Something finally went right
Now there’s two less lonely people
In the world tonight

Speaking of the movie… If you’re in the Philippines, chances are you know exactly what I’m talking about with all the rave it’s gotten. I loved the movie, Empoy was truly a breath of fresh air from all the male love interests we’ve seen in this lifetime. If you haven’t seen it, go see it!!!! But go in with an open mind and no expectations despite all its hype. Enjoy the movie as it is and fall in love. Or believe that one day, you’ll find your own Saging or Puso, too. πŸ˜‰

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 14

Day 14 – A Song That You Would Love Played At Your Wedding

Marry Me by Train

Year Released: 2009

It’s a little clichΓ© and redundant, I know. But it’s my imaginary wedding so give me a break. Hahaha! πŸ˜€ It’s romantic and it’s a slow song so I think it’s a perfect first dance song. My safe choice so I don’t embarrass myself on my wedding day. I have a stellar track record of humiliating myself on important milestones of my life. I wouldn’t be surprised if something happens on that day really. πŸ™‚

To the single people out there, what’s your dream wedding song? πŸ˜‰ And to the married people, what was your wedding song? Share! Share! Share! πŸ™‚
